Rep. Nancy Mace (R-South Carolina) plans to introduce a resolution Monday that would bar transgender women from using the women’s bathroom in the Capitol, according to her office. The move comes ahead of Rep.-elect Sarah McBride (D-Delaware) being sworn in as the first transgender lawmaker in the United States on Jan. 3. The resolution is not under privilege, meaning the House does not have to immediately vote on it. Even if the resolution were to be adopted this year, it would have to be reintroduced and passed in 2025 to be in effect for the 119th Congress.

Finished [italic]Sub Rosa[/italic], which I can recommend if you're a fan of Roman-era fiction such as the Falco series. I know ... a woman writing MM, ugh! Here, I think she did okay, although a bit awkward at times. Audio narrator has very pronounced "gay voice" which I think is his own, not for effect.

Finishing up a second book by Vendela Vita. Didn't like it any more than the other one, reads like a self-published un-edited work. I'm left wondering if she's published because she's married to successful Dave Eggers?

A former Target employee has been offered her job back after the retailer “apologized” for firing her for wearing a nametag inscribed with “trust in Jesus”.

Denise Kendrick, a devout Christian who worked as a cashier at a store in Fargo, North Dakota, said she was dismissed from her role over the alleged dress code violation.

Kendrick said she arrived at work on Saturday wearing a plain red sweatshirt, jeans – which are within Target’s dress code guidelines – and the handwritten nametag reading “trust in Jesus” beside her first name.

The cashier had been wearing the badge to work since Halloween, she said in a video on her YouTube channel on Monday.

Kendrick was then approached by her manager who allegedly said she “can’t wear that nametag”.

“‘Well, I’ve seen people with rainbows on theirs,’” Kendrick retorted, referring to the multicolored symbol of pride for the LGBTQ community, she told KVLY 11. “‘I’m going to continue to wear this nametag.’”

Kendrick claimed her employee responded: “‘Well, you can’t work here anymore.’”

My mother never got rid of her crap until she went into a nursing home so in fact we, her children, had to deal with it I won't put anyone through that. And it all going into a dumpster is kind of grim. I'm determined to fix this before I turn 65. Remember poor old George Bell?

They moved to France from San Francisco in October 2023, but just over 12 months later, Joanna McIsaac-Kierklo and her husband Ed Kierklo say they are on the brink of returning to the US.

While Joanna, 74, and Ed, 75, intended to spend the rest of their lives in the European country, the retired couple have struggled to make friends and are becoming increasingly frustrated with French bureaucracy.

“We gave it a year here,” says Joanna. “And we just said, ‘Too much grief and no joy.’ There’s no fun. We’re struggling every day.”

“I honestly don’t think we could have put in any more effort to acclimatize to the French way of life,” adds Joanna, who describes their experience as “a nightmare.”

While they’re still working out the finer details of their imminent return, Joanna and Ed say that they’re “frustrated and exhausted,” by life in France and feel ready to “give up and leave.”

Uprooting their lives in the Californian city and moving to France was certainly not a decision taken lightly, they say.

Joanna and Ed, who’ve been married for 20 years, had already traveled the world extensively, both together and separately, beforehand.

“I didn’t get married till I was in my 50s,” says Joanna, who is originally from San Francisco. “So when I met my husband, we traveled.

“We have no children. No siblings. No parents. There’s nothing to encumber us doing exactly what we please.”

Joanna explains that she and Ed bought and sold three different homes during their first 15 years of marriage, “giving us a comfortable amount of cash to afford us the option to travel and even relocate to anywhere we wanted.”

In 2010, the couple bought a summer home in Northern California and spent eight years or so “going back and forth to San Francisco.”

“I think every married couple needs two places to live, because you’ve got to get away from each other,” adds Joanna, who previously worked as a healthcare executive.

But she says she was becoming increasingly frustrated with the political climate in the US and felt the urge to move somewhere else permanently.

“I’m a pretty political person, and I feel like the United States should be better,” she says. “And it never gets better.”

In 2011, the couple moved to London and spent much of their spare time traveling to different countries around Europe.

“I loved every place I went,” says Joanna. “I really enjoyed seeing a lot of Europe.”

After deciding that they couldn’t afford to live in the UK capital anymore, Joanna and Ed, a former IT executive, returned to San Francisco and tried to work out where to go next.

They’d previously spent two months living in the city of Nîmes in Southern France and “loved every minute,” so the destination seemed like it could be the ideal choice for them.

“We were looking for civility, consideration and little or no gun violence… which Nîmes has all three,” adds Joanna.

The couple hired a relocation specialist to help them find an apartment to rent and started the process of applying for a long-stay visa. However, things weren’t as straightforward as they’d envisioned.

[quote]“I have a real sort of ownership of who I am and what I want. I have some control over how things happen for myself, which is a really powerful thing,” says Erivo, who has her own production company and is most excited to create projects for future stars. Then the actress puts it in pop-culture parlance, “But as the old adage goes, with great power comes great responsibility.”

[quote]Another responsibility Erivo relished? Being nosy. She tried to understand every job, from the assistant director calling “cut!” to the wind-machine operator. “That’s my commitment to myself to make sure that everyone feels seen and acknowledged,” she says. It was “a bit jarring at first” for “Wicked” director Jon M. Chu (“Crazy Rich Asians,” “In the Heights”). “It’s like, ‘We got this. Don’t worry. You just figure out your own thing,’” he says.

A compact house of 1785 square feet (166m2) in a low slung arrangement of rooms with a central living room and two bedroom wings going off in a roughly V-form. One wing contains a bedroom, private bath, and a compact by pleasant home office; the other wing contains two bedrooms separated by a bathroom. The central living room has large windows to the land and ocean sides, the latter inclined inward to better frame the splendid views of ancient trees and the ocean beyond. The living roomhas beamed ceilings and a large fireplace. There are multiple doors to the exterior throughout the house, with terraces front and back. There's a one-car garage attached to the house.

The house is not oceanfront. It sits on an irregularly shaped and lushly landscaped lot, partly overlooking the roof of a neighboring house or two closer to the ocean but at a much lower elevation. There is access to the private beach.

The interior is terribly woody, with painted wood beams and otherwise varnished natural wood panelling and wood trim everywhere and kitchen cabinetry again in unpainted wood, but it adds to the sense of enclosure --as if in an acorn-- and the ring of trees beyond and beyond that the ocean. For me it's an idyllic setting. It's has the advantage of the ocean (in vison, sound, and smell) without the Collinwood Gothic melancholy of being too up close to the constant crashing waves. I know others will want the neighbors miles away and to be cantilvered over the very ocean with an elevator down to a beach and a massively larger house, but I think the place is close to perfection.

I don't like the wall-to-wall carpet in some rooms and for me the big project would be installing underfloor heating and a new terracotta tile floor. The kitchen is perfectly fine though I would change the countertop to a beautiful marble figured like the torment of the sea. One of the bedrooms would become a second living room. The house needs better furniture and better art and some beautiful rugs on (my plans for) a terracotta floor. It's smaller than I would normally consider, but here the near perfect house is about the perfect size.

I post the occasional Mid Century house for fellow Tasteful Friends, but while they are interesting to contemplate I couldn't live in one -- with a very few exceptions, this place very high among them.

The 3-D view includes an adequate floor plan.

WASHINGTON — Tech entrepreneurs Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy outlined a plan Wednesday for President-elect Donald Trump to oversee a massive reduction in the federal workforce, arguing the employees won't be needed after Trump eliminates "thousands of regulations" in his next administration.

Musk and Ramaswamy, who Trump last week named co-heads of a new Department of Government Efficiency, singled out in a Wall Street Journal op-ed federal employees "who view themselves as immune from firing thanks to civil-service protections."

The duo pointed to recent Supreme Court decisions to argue the incoming president has the executive power to nullify many regulations unilaterally without Congress, pursue "large-scale firings" of federal workers and relocate some agencies outside of Washington. They said "a drastic reduction in federal regulations" would require vastly fewer federal employees.

"DOGE intends to work with embedded appointees in agencies to identify the minimum number of employees required at an agency for it to perform its constitutionally permissible and statutorily mandated functions," their op-ed reads.

Musk and Ramaswamy, two loyal Trump allies, were tapped to lead the effort to "dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies." Although dubbed a department, the Musk/Ramaswamy-led effort is effectively an outside advisory commission − not a formal agency − with no legal authority.

The incoming Trump administration is expected to revive a plan to convert some employees to "Schedule F," status which strips them of job protections, among other efforts to cut the workforce.

Musk and Ramaswamy said the number of federal employees to cut "should be at least proportionate" to the number of regulations that are eliminated. "Not only are fewer employees required to enforce fewer regulations, but the agency would produce fewer regulations once its scope of authority is properly limited," they said.

They did not specify how many workers could be downsized, or which agencies would be targeted, if their plan is carried out. They said "employees whose positions are eliminated deserve to be treated with respect, and DOGE’s goal is to help support their transition into the private sector," without providing specifics on how such a transition would work.

Trump would be able to use existing laws to give targeted federal workers incentives for early retirement and provide voluntary severance payments "to facilitate a graceful exit," they added.

Musk and Ramaswamy acknowledged "conventional wisdom" might suggests civil-service protections prevent the president from firing federal workers. But they argued Trump has the broad power − under the Supreme Court's 2021 Collins v. Yellen decision − to pursue "reductions in force" that don't target specific employees.

They also floated the possibility of requiring these workers to return to in-person work five days a week, predicting it "would result in a wave of voluntary terminations that we welcome."

"If federal employees don’t want to show up, American taxpayers shouldn’t pay them for the Covid-era privilege of staying home," they said.

"We are entrepreneurs, not politicians," they wrote in the op-ed. "We will serve as outside volunteers, not federal officials or employees. Unlike government commissions or advisory committees, we won’t just write reports or cut ribbons. We’ll cut costs."

I live in SoCal, and it seems like every year at this time I get bombarded with persimmons because so many friends, neighbors, etc. have trees and this is when the fruit gets picked.

I've made persimmon bread a number of times (James Beard's recipe, with bourbon!) but short of eating them plain or with yogurt, I don't know what else to do with them. I get both the Fuyu (hard and tomato-shaped) and Hachiya (teardrop-shaped and softer) varieties.

It's all over the place, but I want to focus on toys today.

The amount of plastic crap and waste is unbelievable. This gacha/blind box shit is disgusting.

For those with no knowledge of current toy trends, think baseball cards except EVERYTHING. You open plastic eggs (wrapped in more plastic so no one opens it), cardboard boxes (with plastic bags inside so no opoens it), whatever, and get a random item. To actually get the toy or item the kids wants you might have to open tens or hundreds of these things. Plastic trinkets, dolls, even stuffed animals are being sold this way now. And the quality of the toys inside is dollar store shit. Yet these things are like 5 to 20 bucks each.

It's so extremely wasteful. It gives the kid a cheap thrill for a few seconds, but that's it. The enjoyment is in the unboxing. Then it's on to the next blind box. Kids never appreciate what they have. They just buy more plastic crap.

And I don't want to hear about how it was like this back in the day. NO IT WAS NOT. Even in my youth (millennial), you actually appreciated what toys you did get and only a few things (baseball cards, stickers) were sold this way. And the quality of toys had already gone downhill, but not to this extent.

I saw this online and agree with a lot of it.

Yes, I think the Democratic Party needs to make some tweaks and changes, and I'd be happy with any party that could execute the tricky task of appealing to the middle and working class voters without alienating big corporations - a party that could strike a balance for inclusion without alienating the "middle America" base.

Anyway, this is what I saw on social media. Credited to Craig Cree Hardegree. ___________________________________________________________ In 2008 President Obama got 9.5 million more votes than John McCain — it was the largest landslide victory since Reagan’s win over Walter Mondale in 1984. President Obama was so strong that he ushered in a whopping 257 House seats for Democrats, compared to a paltry 178 for Republicans — a 79-seat majority! And in the Senate, President Obama’s coattails were so long, 60 Democrats rolled into the upper chamber — neither party had seen 60 seats since Democrats controlled 61 during Carter’s presidency from 1977 to 1981.

Remember how Republicans humbly decided to respect President Obama for his enormous across-the-board victory? Remember how Republicans felt chastened because they had obviously been supporting policies that were out of touch with the majority of the American public?

Remember Republicans entering a period of soul-searching and hand-wringing, rethinking their positions and revamping their message?

Remember Republicans soberly saying, “the people have spoken; it’s time to let the Democrats run things for a while because obviously the American people prefer the policies President Obama ran on, like tax subsidies for health insurance”? Remember all the Fox News morning hosts shuttling up to Chicago’s South Side to kiss President Obama’s ring and make nice with him before he was sworn in?

Yeah, I don’t remember any of that, either. Because none of it ever happened.

President Obama’s seismic victory over Republicans, and the American public’s total repudiation of Republican policies, were totally dismissed by Republicans. They were not chastened; they were not humbled; they did not feel reproved or rebuked. They did not worry if they had been out of touch or if their messaging needed to change.

No… they were livid; they were seething mad. In fact, President Obama’s unparalleled success upset them so much that they became permanently enraged — they are STILL mad about it, even today.

On the night of his inauguration when President Obama and Michelle were still dancing to Beyoncé crooning “At Last” at the Inaugural Ball, Republican leaders gathered at The Caucus Room Brasserie in downtown DC to plot a strategy of bringing government to a standstill by opposing President Obama on everything he tried to do, even if they agreed with what he was doing. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that his number one legislative priority over the next four years was to make sure President Obama would only serve one term.

Bitter evangelicals spent every waking minute demonizing President Obama, calling him a terrorist and the Antichrist. Mad-as-hell Republicans formed the Tea Party to stand in open defiance of everything President Obama tried to accomplish. The Tea Party later evolved into the MAGA movement, trademarked by the same level of out-of-mind anger and fury. Republicans, who had caused the Great Recession of 2007 and the Housing Market Crash of 2008, tried to blame President Obama — who didn’t take office until 2009 — for the economy they themselves had wrecked.

The Republican minority in the Senate used the filibuster to sabotage President Obama’s every effort to fix the economy they had broken. And now the same Republicans who refused to acknowledge President Obama’s 2008 earth-shattering victory as a mandate, are claiming a “mandate” for Trump when he barely won by the skin of his teeth.

I love a guy in grey sweatpants, especially if you can catch a glimpse of the outline of his dick 3. I like catching a whiff of a guy's scent, for example, on the train this morning, I was seated and there was a guy who was standing next to me but facing me. I noticed he kinda leaned in so that his crotch was right in my face and he had a really nice smell. It was a turn on.

DALLAS — Amber Guyger, the former Dallas police officer convicted of murdering 26-year-old accountant Botham Jean in his apartment six years ago, was ordered to pay the Jean family $98.6 million in a civil trial Wednesday.

Guyger was convicted six years ago of shooting and killing Jean in his apartment, which she said she thought was her own.

She's currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for murder.

Guyger told authorities she confused Botham's apartment for her own. Her body-worn camera was not recording during the shooting because she was off duty. She appealed the conviction but lost her appeal two years ago. She became eligible for parole on Sept. 29 of this year.

The civil lawsuit against her accuses the former police officer of using excessive force in Jean's death.

Attorneys for the Jean family, which includes civil rights attorney Ben Crump, released the following statement after the verdict:

"This verdict stands as a powerful testament to Botham's life and the profound injustice of his death. On September 6, 2018, Botham was doing nothing more than sitting in his own home, eating ice cream, when Amber Guyger –– an off-duty officer –– wrongly entered his apartment and fatally shot him. This case laid bare critical issues of racial bias and police accountability that cannot be ignored. Today's verdict sends a clear message that law enforcement officers who commit crimes cannot be insulated from the consequences of their actions."

Attorneys for the Jean family say they most likely will not ever see any of the $98.6 million verdict and they insist they wanted to make sure that Guyger could never profit financially from having killed Botham Jean. They said they are exploring legal options to hold the city accountable and urging people in Dallas to demand change and more from city leaders.

Guyger chose not to attend the trial in Dallas.

The Irish actor, a usually intriguing presence, doesn’t hold the screen here so much as he vanishes into its tumult. Of all the ways in which he feels miscast, the most fatal may be his utter inability to seem like someone other guys would follow to their deaths. Mescal’s career to date has been heavily delineated by women — from his breakout role in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Normal People to the part in Charlotte Wells’s debut feature Aftersun that made him a critics’ favorite — and he has excelled at playing elusive objects of longing. But he’s terrible at giving the rousing speeches that were so iconic in Gladiator and that Gladiator II, which has a clunkier script written by David Scarpa, attempts to re-create. His instinct is to underplay these moments rather than bellow theatrically, which is a problem, especially when saddled with somewhat confusing slogans like “Where we are, death is not!”

At 61, I decided to cross a new frontier and hire an escort. I found a guy on Rentmen who seemed perfect: hot, masculine, exuding big dick energy, and ready to go. When he showed up, he looked like he’d stepped out of a Bounty paper towel ad—very hot.

But the fantasy fell apart fast. His personality was flatter than Kansas, and his voice bounced between dull and a laughably forced "butch" tone. Worse, he couldn’t stay hard. I’d hoped for a wild romp with this slice of Americana stud, but instead got awkward small talk. I paid for an hour and a half, but because of his performance issues, he stayed for three.

When my husband came home after seeing *Wicked*, he was amused by the whole ordeal and decided to take matters into his own hands. By the end of the night, he ended up fucking this big lunk and leaving him with a cum-filled hole. Lesson learned: even the hottest guy can produce a boring fuck. But my husband? Always reliable.

NEW YORK -- A suspect is in custody following random stabbings in New York City on Monday morning that left three people dead, police said.

Police said a 51-year-old man, identified as Ramon Rivera, was apprehended following the third attack and his been charged with three counts of murder.

"Three innocent New Yorkers who [were] going about their lives were the victims of a terrible, terrible assault," Mayor Eric Adams said. "It is a clear, clear example of a criminal justice system and a mental health system that continues to fail New Yorkers, and it is troubling that we are standing here today, in a day that brings a great level of difficulty to the city. Three New Yorkers, unprovoked attacks that left us searching for answers on how something like this could happen."

So good of them to 'warn' their Trump loving customers AFTER the election.

Walmart Chief Financial Officer John David Rainey warned that President-elect Trump's proposed tariffs could lead to higher prices for Walmart shoppers.

"Tariffs are going to be inflationary. There's no disputing that," Rainey said during an interview with Liz Claman on "The Claman Countdown" on Thursday. "Likely consumers are going to pay more for the items that they pay and that these tariffs are applied to."

Under the proposals, a universal 10%-20% tariff would be imposed on imports from all foreign countries and an additional 60%-100% tariff would be imposed on imports specifically from China.

While Rainey said two-thirds of the items the company sells are made, grown or assembled in the U.S., he said it is "in no way immune to this."

King Charles III probably thought he had the winning strategy to get his younger brother, Prince Andrew, out of Royal Lodge once and for all. However, he didn’t realize that the Duke of York had one more trick up his sleeve when saving himself from eviction.

Charles thought that cutting off Andrew’s $1.3 million annual allowance, would put the nail in the coffin and he would be forced to move out. But in this game of royal survivor, the monarch was outwitted and outplayed by his brother to outlast him in the Windsor residence. Prince Andrew found a way to maintain his lifestyle and win what The Times describes as “the siege of Royal Lodge.”

He will no longer receive public funds, and the media outlet noted that “Prince Andrew’s money has been approved by Sir Michael Stevens, the keeper of the privy purse, as coming from legitimate sources.”

That’s quite a blow to Charles, who tried hard to get the Duke of York to move into Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former home, Frogmore Cottage. The downsize would have been significant for Andrew, who is accustomed to a 30-room estate. He held firm to the 75-year lease that he signed in 2003 with the Crown Estate — he was not going to be evicted without a fight. Still, Prince Andrew has his doubters.

Financial expert Norman Baker raised questions with the Daily Mail about where the funds came from. “It is stretching credibility to believe he has legitimate sources of income that enable him to pay a big rent and undertake the necessary repair work, to that building, particularly when he appeared to have nothing just a matter of weeks ago,” he expressed his concern. “We need to understand where this money is coming from – whether it is clean or whether it is coming from one of his nasty dictator friends in the Middle East. He should come clean.”

With Prince Andrew winning another real estate round, Charles will now have to figure out what to do with Frogmore Cottage which stands vacant after Harry and Meghan’s forced exit.

MSNBC mainstay Rachel Maddow has reportedly taken a significant pay cut to stay with the network following a dip in ratings.

The popular anchor and host of the eponymously titled Rachel Maddow Show has renegotiated a new five-year contract, which sees her typical $30 million annual salary now down to $25 million, according to The Ankler.

“This is a difficult time and they needed to keep her. No one else can do what she does. You can’t build a brand like it overnight,” one executive told the publication of the network’s decision.

These figures have not been confirmed; however, a network source told The Independent the number was inaccurate but declined to comment further.

The left-leaning news channel has seen a drop in ratings after Donald Trump’s election victory, with Nielson ratings showing a 40 percent drop compared to last year’s ratings, The Daily Beast reported.

Network producers are also having to figure out how to properly platform conservative voices on the “only safe space for a liberal TV audience,” another insider told The Daily Beast.

“We were so Harris propaganda that when she lost, viewers were shocked,” one anonymous on-air pundit told the outlet. “It turned into one giant circle j**k and echo chamber. If MSNBC wants to be of service to its viewers, they can’t keep them in fantasy land.”

Maddow, 51, was praised by one executive network who called her “ratings Viagra.”

With her new contract, Maddow will continue hosting her Monday-night show in addition to producing podcasts and documentaries for the network.

Maddow’s pay cut comes amid an increasingly rocky media landscape. Just last week veteran broadcaster Chris Wallace announced he was departing CNN to explore the podcast and streaming landscape.

For determined hackers, sitting in a car outside a target's building and using radio equipment to breach its Wi-Fi network has long been an effective but risky technique. These risks became all too clear when spies working for Russia's GRU military intelligence agency were caught red-handed on a city street in the Netherlands in 2018 using an antenna hidden in their car's trunk to try to hack into the Wi-Fi of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

Since that incident, however, that same unit of Russian military hackers appears to have developed a new and far safer Wi-Fi hacking technique: Instead of venturing into radio range of their target, they found another vulnerable network in a building across the street, remotely hacked into a laptop in that neighboring building, and used that computer's antenna to break into the Wi-Fi network of their intended victim—a radio-hacking trick that never even required leaving Russian soil.

**Title: "Beverly Hills Bungle"**

**Plot Synopsis:**

Liz (Jennifer Aniston), a meticulous but frazzled single mom, and Karen (Melissa McCarthy), her carefree and clumsy best friend, are two down-on-their-luck next door neighbors in a run-down desert trailer park. Desperate for cash, they start a meth lab in Karen’s trailer, but things take a disastrous turn when an explosion forces them to flee. With the law and a vengeful drug lord hot on their trail, Liz and Karen seek refuge with Liz’s estranged, wealthy cousin, Victoria (Christine Baranski), in her luxurious Beverly Hills mansion.

Thrown into the world of high society, the pair must disguise their trashy roots and navigate a series of hilarious misadventures. From attending posh galas and mixing up social faux pas to accidentally ruining priceless art, their attempts to blend in with the wealthy elite lead to a cascade of comedic blunders. Despite their antics, Liz and Karen’s genuine hearts and unbreakable friendship win over the snobbish socialites, culminating in a chaotic yet heartwarming showdown that brings the entire Beverly Hills community together in a most unexpected way.

As controversy continues to cloud some of President-elect Donald Trump's Cabinet picks, his team has an ominous warning for Republicans who don't fall in line behind his nominees.

ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl reports that one senior Trump adviser said the message to lawmakers is, "If you are on the wrong side of the vote, you're buying yourself a primary."

"That is all," the adviser told Karl. "And there's a guy named Elon Musk who is going to finance it."

"The president gets to decide his Cabinet. No one else," the adviser added.

The threat came as Matt Gaetz and Pete Hegseth (tapped for attorney general and defense secretary, respectively) made the rounds on Capitol Hill this week to shore up support. They were escorted by Vice President-elect JD Vance, the junior senator from Ohio.

Gaetz announced Thursday afternoon he was withdrawing his name from consideration, stating his confirmation bid was "unfairly becoming a distraction."

Gaetz faces allegations of sexual misconduct and illicit drug use, which he's long denied, that was the subject of a federal investigation and a House Ethics Committee probe. Hegseth has been accused of sexual assaulting a woman in 2017, an encounter Hegseth told police was consensual.

Trump stood firm with the selections, which also raised eyebrows for their relative lack of experience to lead the Department of Justice and the Department of Defense. Trump said it was ultimately Gaetz's choice to withdraw.

Some of the president-elect's other picks have similarly faced scrutiny over their qualifications, including Tulsi Gabbard for director of national intelligence or Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for secretary of Health and Human Services.

Trump previously made a demand for Republican leadership to back so-called "recess appointments" to skirt the traditional confirmation process. That route would require lawmakers to adjourn and for senators to give up the "advice and consent" role they play in nominations, as laid out in the Constitution.

But his demand is being met with some resistance from some Senate Republicans.

Sen. Thom Tillis, a senior Republican and member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said recess appointments for Cabinet posts should be "absolutely off the table."

"And quite honestly, any serious candidate for Cabinet-level position, I would really have to wonder if they would want it or be willing to accept it under a recess," Tillis said. "These positions are too important. They carry too much weight internationally to take a short cut."

Several senators have said they want the full "process" and vetting of candidates to play out.

Sen. Josh Hawley said on Wednesday his intention is to vote for all nominees.

"The Constitution gives us a role in personnel called advice and consent. My view is that's exactly what will unfold here when these nominees are actually sent forward, and we'll treat them like we've treated all others with the proper vetting," said longtime Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, who recently stepped down from the role.

The basic conservative impulse is to resist change. Therefore, conservatives have a naturally coherent focus and attitude. They want to preserve the status quo or turn back the clock to a previous status quo. They turn to conservative media for the comfort of hearing their own attitudes reflected back at them.

Left-wing listeners may all want change, but they have many different, often conflicting, priorities. Therefore it is more difficult to build a large audience that all want to hear the same message.

I also think the conservative mind has a tendency to find being outraged more entertaining than the liberal mind does.

Susan Marie Powell (née Cox; born October 16, 1981) is an American missing person from West Valley City, Utah, whose disappearance in December 2009 and the subsequent investigation garnered national media attention. Her husband, Joshua Powell, was named by law enforcement a person of interest in her disappearance but was never charged. Joshua killed himself and the couple's two young sons in February 2012 after custody of the boys had been given to Susan's parents.

West Valley City police closed their active investigation into Susan's disappearance in May 2013, stating their belief that Joshua murdered Susan and that his brother, Michael (who died by suicide in February 2013), aided him in concealing her body. Since then, there have been repeated attempts to have Susan legally declared dead.

Washington reflected on watching Spacey win an Oscar in 2000 for his performance in 'American Beauty' in a new essay for 'Esquire'

Denzel Washington says many people in Hollywood had suspicions about Kevin Spacey decades before the House of Cards actor faced allegations of sexual assault and harassment.

On Nov. 19, Esquire published a five-part, first-person essay written by Washington, 69, in which the two-time Oscar winner remembered moments in his life and career ahead of the release of Gladiator II. While Washington reflected on attending the 2000 Academy Awards — at which he was nominated for Best Actor for his performance in The Hurricane — the actor recalled watching Spacey, 65, win that year's award instead.

"I’m sure I went home and drank that night. I had to," Washington, who also wrote much about his decision to live a sober lifestyle over the last ten years, wrote in the piece. "I don’t want to sound like, Oh, he won my Oscar, or anything like that. It wasn’t like that."

"And you know, there was talk in the town about what was going on over there on that side of the street, and that’s between him and God," he added. "I ain’t got nothing to do with that. I pray for him. That’s between him and his maker."

Spacey won that year's Best Actor Oscar for his role in 1999's American Beauty; it marked his second Academy Award win after he won Best Supporting Actor in 1996 for the crime thriller The Usual Suspects. 17 years after Spacey won that second Oscar, the actor's career unraveled when Anthony Rapp became the first person to publicly accuse him of sexual assault, with several more accusers coming forward in the years that followed.

In 2022, a jury in New York found that Spacey was not liable for battery in relation to Rapp’s accusations; the following year, a U.K. court found him not guilty of nine counts of alleged sexual assault, with additional initial charges in the case struck as well.

Allegations against Spacey have continued to amass in documentaries like Investigation Discovery's Spacey Unmasked, released in May. Spacey, who has denied all claims made against him — and received criticism for coming out as gay in response to Rapp's initial accusations in 2017 — said in a June interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored that he is struggling to pay his legal bills and that his home in Baltimore was being foreclosed on as a result of the criminal prosecution against him and other lawsuits.

Washington's new movie Gladiator II releases in theaters Nov. 22.

Joe Biden granting Ukraine permission to use NATO-supplied rockets to attack military targets within Russia is an escalation of a European conflict now past its 1,000th day – and, though it is far from being a global conflict, the West is effectively now at war with Putin’s forces Then Russia ups the ante by firing an experimental intermediate range ballistic missile at Dnipro which carried a conventional warhead, but letting the world know the missile could be fitted with other warheads as well. And all this is happening as we elect Trump and his clown car of cabinet picks who will have their hands on the future of this conflict, not to mention nuclear codes.

Incoming First Lady Melania Trump has announced her first big hire for her new East Wing office in the White House, appointing longtime aide Hayley Harrison to be her chief of staff.

In a statement, Trump’s office said Harrison “has maintained an integral role and exceptional leadership on the First Lady’s team over the past seven years.”

“She has a strong understanding of White House operations, and as Chief of Staff, Mrs. Harrison will oversee and manage the East Wing’s team while strategically liaising with other parts of government,” the office added.

Trump is reportedly not planning on living full-time in Washington, D.C. during her second stint in the White House, but she’s set to still have a platform and highlight issues important to her, CNN noted.

Compared to her predecessors, Trump had a small East Wing team during her first term as first lady with about a dozen members of staff.

Don't worry; she ain't dead.

I was just remembering her the other day and listened to some of her old music.

I always liked her and found her to be very mellow and relaxing but also interesting in her viewpoints, but I never really realized before now that most of her music is meant to be uplifting and to make people more conscious and conscientious and feel grateful.

10,000 Maniacs was fine but I am really thinking about the solo music she wrote herself beginning with the album Tigerlily.

What do you think about good ol' Nat?

The remainder of the Fox lot will probably be sold to developers soon, the Paramount lot not far behind. I expect Comcast to buy Warner Bros and consolidate production with Universal (U can turn more of their lot into rides and attractions.)

Los Angeles will only support a small production community who are kept afloat by gigantic tax breaks. All jobs will be union jobs and impossible for outsiders to break into. People who want to get started in production- including actors- will go to Atlanta or Albuquerque instead of Hollywood.

Katie Couric took a swipe at Vice President Kamala Harris for her non-answers in various interviews leading up to the presidential election.

On Thursday's installment of her podcast "Next Question with Katie Couric," the veteran broadcaster had a lengthy post-election conversation with MSNBC host and longtime Democratic spokeswoman Jen Psaki, who said she thought one of Harris' "better interviews" was her Fox News sit-down with Bret Baier.

"I always find that people do better when they're asked really challenging, pointed questions. I always felt that way about Hillary Clinton," Couric said. "If you are giving them these almost weird, like, amorphous softballs, it's really hard to kind of hone your message and be succinct and say what you really need to say."

"I also felt that, and again, I think [Harris] really did well in so many areas, but I was frustrated by her inability to really succinctly answer questions at times, Jen," Couric continued.

"Like, if she was asked about changing the Supreme Court at that CNN town hall, she had an opportunity to talk about ethics and what, you know, [Supreme Court Justices Samuel] Alito and Clarence Thomas were doing, and she answered, like, in one sentence, and then went on to something that had nothing to do with the question," Couric said. "You know, people notice that, and it's like, ‘Answer the g-dd--n question, please!’"

She then pivoted to Harris' now-infamous comments on "The View" where she was asked about what she would do differently from President Biden, calling it "one of the most damaging things."

"Ok, Jen, you're an insider. Why didn't Joe Biden say, 'Listen, I know you're going to have to separate yourself from this administration. Let's talk about areas where you can, where they're legitimate, and God speed,'" Couric wondered. "Because it- I think somebody wrote that it was almost as if they were more afraid of hurting Joe Biden's feelings than winning the election."

Psaki, who served as Biden's White House press secretary before joining MSNBC, responded by saying it was a "unique and painful summer" for Biden and that there "was a fragility" about him being sidelined by the Democratic Party. She also pointed out that Biden was "beloved" by the party when he stepped aside and that Harris had "navigated the politics of that in a very tricky way."

"It seems to me, if I were running for president, Jen, I would sit down with my brain trust, and I'd be like, 'Okay, let's play out these questions. What am I gonna say?'" Couric said.

"And I would have had a template that I would have carried around with me in every interview, and I would have reviewed them and said, you know, 'This is what I believe, and this is how I'm going to handle a question like that.' Now, why didn't they- it just didn't seem like that was done. Am I crazy?" she wondered.

Couric also knocked the vice president for going several weeks without doing any interviews when she first emerged as the Democratic nominee, saying it was "making me crazy as a consumer."

"What was that?" the former "Today" host asked.

"I don't know," Psaki responded before speculating that the Harris campaign was prepping for the debate.

"She should've been everywhere," Couric later added.

PENSACOLA, Fla. − Files containing statements from witnesses who gave damaging testimony against former Rep. Matt Gaetz, President-elect Donald Trump's pick for attorney general, were hacked on Monday, attorneys say.

The hacked files include an unredacted deposition of a woman who reportedly claimed to have had sex with Gaetz when she was 17.

The attorneys are involved in a federal defamation lawsuit against former Seminole County Tax Collector Joel Greenberg brought by former state lawmaker and lobbyist Chris Dorworth in 2023. The lawsuit accuses Greenberg, who is serving an 11-year prison sentence for sex trafficking, and several of Greenberg's family members of "conspiring with Joel’s sex trafficking victim ... to falsely accuse Dorworth and Gaetz of sexual misconduct."

Greenberg's attorney, Fritz Wermuth, notified other attorneys in the case that unredacted documents were accessed from a secure document sharing service by an "unauthorized third party" on Monday afternoon.

In an email obtained by the USA TODAY Network to attorneys in a Florida defamation lawsuit, Wermuth warns that unredacted files with depositions of several witnesses were accessed.

"The exhibits included, for instance, unredacted copies of the deposition transcripts" of three witnesses, including the alleged trafficking victim, Wermuth wrote in the email.

Witnesses in the case said the 17-year-old alleged trafficking victim had "access to the bedrooms in the Dorworth Residence to engage in sexual activities" as well as "alcohol, cocaine, ecstasy also known as molly, and marijuana."

Several of the witnesses in the defamation case have also testified before the House Ethics Committee.

Florida Attorney Joel Leppard told ABC News on Monday that he represents two women who testified that Gaetz paid them for sex through Venmo, and one witness said she saw Gaetz having sex with her then 17-year-old friend at a Florida house party in July 2017.

Gaetz has vehemently and repeatedly denied the allegations.

The House Ethics Committee is expected to meet Wednesday behind closed doors to discuss whether to release its report on the allegations against Gaetz. Speaker Mike Johnson has publicly urged the bipartisan committee to not release the report because Gaetz is no longer a member of the House. House Ethics Chair Rep. Michael Guest, R-Miss., told Politico the committee would make its own decision regardless of what Johnson said.

... what we are really looking at is a one-term presidency with a two-year lame duck period built into it.

So why are we freaking out and panicking?

I'm not spending one more minute panicking about what this idiot will be able to get done in two years. Because in two years, we will probably re-take the House and then the conversation starts about what (and who) comes after Trump.

And no, I do not think Trump or the Republicans will be able to rig the system so that they stay in power forever. We would truly have to abandon the Constitution for that to happen.

Seven years after they last spoke to him, MSNBC Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski traveled to Mar-a-Lago over the weekend to meet with President-elect Donald Trump.

The duo, who used to be friends with Trump, turned into fierce critics during his first term in office, and he returned the favor, occasionally ripping into them in posts on X (formerly Twitter). At the top of Monday’s program, they disclosed their trip, acknowledging that his decisive win influenced their decision.

“Joe and I realized it’s time to do something different and that starts with not only talking about Donald Trump, but also talking with him,” Brzezinski said. “For those asking why we would go speak to the president-elect during such fraught times, especially between us, I guess I would ask back, why wouldn’t we? Five years of political warfare has deeply divided Washington and the country.”

The pair said that Trump was upbeat during their meeting, and noted that the only communication they have had in recent years was a phone call Scarborough made the day after the assassination attempt over the summer.

As for what they discussed: “We talked about a lot of issues, including abortion, mass deportation, threats of political retribution against political opponents and media outlets,” Scarborough said. “We talked about that a good bit. It will come as no surprise to anybody who watches this show, has watched it over the past year or over the past decade, that we didn’t see eye-to-eye on a lot of issues and we told him so.”

“What we did agree on was to restart communications,” Brzezinski added. “My father [former Jimmy Carter national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski] often spoke with world leaders with whom he and the United States profoundly disagreed. That is a task shared by reporters and commentators alike.”

“I will tell you a lot of Democratic leaders we have talked to this past week since the election have told Mika and me, it’s time for a new approach,” Scarborough added.

I Love Lucy without Fred Mertz would shift the dynamic of the show in a way that could arguably make it more streamlined and focused on the core relationship between Lucy and Ricky. Here’s why the show might be better without Fred:

1. Tighter Focus on Lucy and Ricky's Relationship: Fred often acted as a third wheel in the dynamic between Lucy and Ricky. While the show is famous for its ensemble of characters, the real heart of the show lies in the comedic tension and affection between Lucy and Ricky. Removing Fred would allow more screen time to explore their relationship without the interruption of Fred’s frequent interjections. This could lead to more intimate, character-driven humor, making the comedy feel fresher and more centered around their evolving marriage.

2. Greater Flexibility in Plot Development: Fred's role, while comedic, often served as a foil to Lucy’s antics, providing him with a predictable set of reactions. Without him, the show could have explored new comedic directions, with Lucy’s schemes facing more direct opposition from other characters, like Ricky, or even creating entirely new dynamics with the neighbors. This could lead to fresher plotlines and less reliance on the same old formula of Lucy and Ethel pulling off a ridiculous scheme, only for Fred to disapprove and offer predictable banter.

3. Stronger Female Empowerment Themes: Fred’s presence often meant that the show had to balance Lucy and Ethel’s antics with male perspectives or commentary. Without Fred, I Love Lucy could have leaned more heavily into the women’s friendship and comedic agency. Ethel would have had a more prominent role as Lucy's partner in crime, and the two women could have taken on more sophisticated or independent schemes, allowing the show to explore themes of female camaraderie and empowerment more thoroughly.

4. More Room for Ethel to Shine: Fred sometimes overshadowed Ethel, even though both were meant to serve as comic relief. If Fred were removed from the equation, Ethel could have played a more substantial role in the show’s comedic plots. Her interactions with Lucy could have been given more depth, and without Fred's constant presence, there might have been more opportunities for the two women to take center stage in the show’s comedic moments, giving the series a more balanced dynamic.

5. William Frawley was ugly/Vivian Vance

Lizzo isn’t letting hurtful comments get in the way of her fitness journey.

On Friday (Sept. 20), the 36-year-old “Truth Hurts” singer respond to allegations on social media that she’s been using the popular weight loss drug ozempic after sharing videos of her weight loss transformation.

“When you finally get Ozempic allegations after 5 months of weight training and calorie deficit,” the pop-rap star captioned a video on Instagram of herself sighing into the camera.

Lizzo’s carousel also included a screenshot of a rude follower commenting on one of her posts. “Did she use Ozempic or did she snort coke,” the person wrote, prompting the star to respond, “whyyyy do u follow me?”

Days earlier, the four-time Grammy winner shared clips on social media of herself hard at work in the gym. The videos feature the artist sharing before-and-after shots of her weight loss while donning her shapewear brand Yitty. One of the clips is soundtracked by Nicki Minaj saying, “The fact that you would even discuss my looks is insane. I’m a bad b—-, always been a bad b—-.”” Lizzo captioned the Sept. 19 post, “FINE BOTH WAYS,” alongside exhaling face emojis.

Lizzo has also recently shared an update about new music. “JUST A LIL ALBUM UPDATE 4 MY REAL LIZZBIANS: I’m making the BEST music of my life— this album (like all my other albums) is a BODY OF TWERK,” she wrote on Instagram alongside photos of herself in the recording studio. “I want you to listen to the WHOLE THING/IN ORDER with a glass of ur favorite wet stuff and ur heart open. This is more than music to me… this is my soul poured out and bared to the world.”

The “About Damn Time” hitmaker has been giving fans a look into her fitness routine in recent weeks. In an Aug. 25 post revealing that she’s “taking a gap year,” the star shared fitness footage from Bali, where she’s seen jumping rope on a balcony.

Just before summertime, the star gave an update on her mental health, a topic she’s been candid about over the past year amid harassment allegations and public scrutiny. (In August 2023, three former tour dancers filed a lawsuit against her, alleging sexual misconduct and hostile work conditions. Lizzo claimed the accusations to be false and deemed them “sensationalized stories”; the lawsuit was put on hold in March pending appeals.)

“I’m the happiest I’ve been in 10 months,” she wrote on Instagram in May. “The strange thing about depression is you don’t know you’re in it until you’re out of it. I’m definitely not all the way as carefree as I used to be. But the dark cloud that followed me every day is finally clearing up. My smile reaches my eyes again and that’s a win.”

It's more for the potential of stopping alcohol addiction, although losing the weight is an added/needed outcome as well.

I'm spending about $300 a month on alcohol so I don't see that this would be an extra expense for me. I also already have gastric attacks because of alcohol.

I need help with this. I'm willing to take a gamble if it can change my life. It's already changed the life of my best friend (weight/sugar cravings/high sugar levels). she also reports having no desire for alcohol whereas she was having at least a glass of wine a night (or more).

Willing to be on it for the rest of my life if it relieves my need for alcohol.

Former President Bill Clinton said during a recent interview that the country may not be ready for a female president following Vice President Kamala Harris' loss to President-elect Donald Trump, and suggested a Republican woman might have an easier time getting elected.

"Maybe," Clinton replied to CBS' Tracy Smith's question about whether the U.S. isn't ready for a woman president. "I think in some ways we've moved to the right as a reaction to all the turmoil. And I think if Hillary had been nominated in 2008, she would've walked in, just like Obama did."

Clinton spoke to Smith about his new book, "Citizen," and was asked if the country had changed following Harris' loss. The book also reportedly details his frustration while being questioned about his infamous affair with Monica Lewinsky.

"Well, I think all these cultural battles that we're fighting make it harder in some ways for a woman to run," he said.

"So, you think it has more to do with party than gender?" Smith followed up.

"No," Clinton responded. "Although I think it would probably be easier for a conservative Republican woman to win."

The former Democratic president said it was because that was what Margaret Thatcher did and added, "I still think we'll have a female president pretty soon."

Why are Indians always trying to run scams? Even when they have stable jobs and are safe in a first world country they seem unable to resist the urge. They steal shit, I’ve seen them in stores and banks making up wild stories asking for freebies and threatening to sue. Is it the way they’re raised? Is their whole country like this?

Now that the election is over and Biden's on his way out, can we please free Hunter Biden from whatever corner he's been sitting in for the last year?

I think we should OK a plea deal where he's pardoned for any and all crimes, as long as he walks around nude and erect for a few weeks. We can all walk by, like when someone lies in state, and take a look at the magnificent tower of meat between Hunter's legs.

83 people died in American Samoa due to his meddling in measles vaccines. Is there anything more depraved than killing children to make money for his 20 million dollar company?

by Anonymousreplies 26November 22, 2024 10:32 PM

Has anyone looked deeply into Musk's conflict of interest with an "appointed" fake position with the future "presidential" term? Is anyone doing anything about it?

In my experience as a retired government employee, if an elected official, be it governor, mayor, or dog catcher, appointed a contractor who's making a lot of money off said government to look into its business with the goal of cutting costs agency wide, they would be recalled or forced to resign. The corruption and hypocrisy is off the charts, not surprising considering who "appointed" him..

Will Musk look into the cost of his own business contracts with the federal government? Of course not!

Sorry the article I linked included a hideous photo of the two deplorables.

Los Angeles, the second largest US city, is setting itself up for a standoff with President-elect Donald Trump over immigration.

On Tuesday, its city council passed a "sanctuary city" ordinance to bar using local resources to help federal immigration authorities.

LA's public school system also reaffirmed itself as a "sanctuary" for undocumented immigrants and LGBTQ students in a series of emergency resolutions.

Trump, who will be sworn in in two months, has promised mass deportations once he returns to the White House. His chosen "border czar", Tim Homan, has urged sanctuary cities to "get the hell out of the way" of federal immigration crackdowns.

The term "sanctuary city" has been popular in the US for more than a decade to describe places that limit their assistance to federal immigration authorities. Since it is not a legal term, cities have taken a variety of approaches to becoming "sanctuaries", such as setting policies in laws or simply changing local policing practices.

Aimed at making a 2019 executive order into city law, the city council's sanctuary city ordinance prohibits using city resources for immigration enforcement, including cooperating with federal immigration agents, NBC News Los Angeles reports.

When I was 15 yrs old….

A boy followed me into the restroom one morning. I thought nothing of it. He cornered me and then he pulled out a knife and stuck it at my chest. He said.” I want that jacket and I want it now. I said, get that fucking knife away from me before I turn it around and put it in your eyeball. He was stunned. He said who the fuck are you? Said who the fuck are you right back at him. Then I shoved him back. Hard. He flew about 6 feet and landed on his ass with the knife still in his hand. He got up, called me a fucking bitch and ran out of the bathroom. I just stood there in the mirror, wondering what was happening looking back I don’t blame him. He was desperate and he just wanted my coat. And mine was the coolest jacket in the school.

“Generation X delivered the White House to Trump.”

That was the post-election analysis of political writer Philip Klein, who noted this week that people between the ages of 45 and 64 voted for President-elect Donald Trump 53% to 45%. Other generations, both older and younger, went for Vice President Kamala Harris. This result follows several recent articles calling Generation X, my generation, the “Trumpiest” generation.

For those of us in that demographic, born between the mid-1960s and 1980, it’s easy to understand why we went for Trump. For one, we aren’t easily offended — even by Trump, the king of the politically incorrect put-down. Bret Easton Ellis, a popular novelist of Gen X, once noted in an interview that those of us who were teenagers in the 1980s “loved to be offended.”

It’s true. We were born in the 1960s, were children in the ’70s, and were teens in the ’80s. We liked gritty and sexy novels like Tropic of Cancer that were not socially acceptable, as well as loud punk rock and challenging movies. Yet we also love J.R.R. Tolkien, Beethoven, C.S. Lewis, jazz, and Flannery O’Connor — and patriotic movies such as Top Gun.

We were children in 1976 during the bicentennial celebrations of the founding of America, and like the children under communism, we had in our hearts a desire for God and an awareness of the value of freedom. We love America and know Marxism is a lie.

It seemed like our time had come with the collapse of communism in 1989. All of the things Gen X loves — the freedom to read, watch, and say what you want, the acceptance of gay people, including their protection from bullies, the ability to tell jokes and let stuff roll off our backs, and self-reliance — were becoming mainstream around the world.

But that was short-lived. Communism stayed alive in the universities and then spread into the wider culture. If somebody had told us back in 1990 that in 2024 we would have censorship, speech codes, sensitivity readers for novels, and Christian bakers charged with crimes for following their conscience, we would not have believed them.

One post-election comment hit the nail on the head: “We grew up not caring about Boy George wearing a dress. Who you slept with. What color you are. And then the whole progressive machinery spent the last decade calling us racist, sexist Nazis. … Enough is enough.”

It’s been amazing to watch over the last 30 years as younger people have become more “woke” while my generation stays the same. Recently, a Generation Z friend who works with me at a grocery store watched slack-jawed as my manager, who, like me, is Gen X, and I went toe-to-toe over a disagreement. The expletives were flying, as well as the insults and personal put-downs. There were slurs going in both directions. Then, my manager and I fist-bumped, laughed, and went back to work. It’s how we roll. That’s much healthier than going to HR every week.

Joe Rogan has endorsed Donald Trump, shoring up the former president's appeal to young men in the final 24 hours of the election.

In a social media post on Monday night, Rogan – whose podcast The Joe Rogan Experience is widely estimated to be the most listened-to- in the world – said his most recent guest Elon Musk had made a "compelling” argument for four more years of Trump.

"The great and powerful Elon Musk. If it wasn't for him we'd be f***ed. He makes what I think is the most compelling case for Trump you'll hear, and I agree with him every step of the way," Rogan said on Musk's social network X, formerly known as Twitter.

[quote]The Democratic Party is a party ferociously committed to looking backwards. They yearn for 1995, when the future was neoliberal deregulation, triangulation, and the Clintons. When Fukuyama announced that history had ended, it seems like a lot of Democratic officials stopped reading.

[quote]Now, you might be thinking to yourself, what the hell does this all have to do with the election just passed? Surely, you’re not arguing that the Republican party is the counter-weight here, the anti-capitalist foe? Not at all. No, the Republican party is capitalist, hyper-capitalist. They have, however, faced the reality that the status quo will not continue as is. There won’t be a future where a diverse, global family shares in the wealth produced by capitalism, where the poor are raised up to become the global middle class and globalization saves the wretched of the Earth.

CHICAGO — In a stunning move, the Illinois Supreme Court on Thursday overturned the convictions for former “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, finding that a special prosecutor’s decision to retry him violated his rights after the Cook County state’s attorney’s office previously dropped all charges against him.

The high court’s decision turns another page in perhaps the most controversial and closely-watched low-level felony case in Illinois in recent years.

“We are aware that this case has generated significant public interest and that many people were dissatisfied with the resolution of the original case and believed it to be unjust,” the opinion said. “Nevertheless, what would be more unjust than the resolution of any one criminal case would be a holding from this court that the State was not bound to honor agreements upon which people have detrimentally relied.”

The court remanded the case to the trial court to enter a dismissal.

Smollett was convicted by a jury of five of six counts of disorderly conduct in December of 2021 for lying to the police on Jan. 29, 2019, when he reported that two men attacked him in the Loop, hitting him, yelling homophobic slurs and placing a noose around his neck. He was sentenced to 150 days in jail, 30 months of probation and $130,160 in restitution.

But he has yet to serve the sentence, as a lengthy appeal has wound its way through the system. A lower court previously affirmed the convictions in a split 2-1 decision, but the Supreme Court agreed to hear the actor’s appeal.

Central to his appeal was a decision by the Cook County state’s attorney’s office to drop charges against Smollett, a move that at the time embroiled State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and her office in controversy.

Cook County prosecutors had charged Smollett with disorderly conduct for concocting the hoax with brothers Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo, who testified that he paid them to perpetrate the attack, but about a month later prosecutors dropped all counts against him, noting that he forfeited his $10,000 bond and had done community service. Foxx previously handed the case to deputies, saying she had recused herself.

“Finally, it defies credulity to believe that defendant would agree to forfeit $10,000 with the understanding that CCSAO could simply reindict him the following day,” the court wrote in the opinion.

I remember finding the scene of Eliza in the bathroom very disturbing. She was ordered to take her clothes off quite brusquely by Mrs. Pearce, but she didn’t want to take her clothes off. Mrs. Pearce behaved like that one porn director yelling at Irene Cara to take her clothes off in FAME.

Eliza starts screaming as the servants grab her and start removing her clothes. She’s screaming “Get your hands off me!!”

But there is so much steam filling the room that we can’t see what the women are really doing to Eliza. You can hear Mrs. Pearce saying, “I just want to wash you Eliza.”

If external actors and the American GOP cheated with the voting machines, we all watched them set this up in the previous two election cycles, and did nothing to secure the machines.

If Trump incited and caused a murderous insurrection, we all watched Biden and the Senate somehow countenance Garland slow-walking it, and just doing nothing, until past the critical point the if he did something, it wouldn't work. Thanks are due, however, to the Dems and Republicans in the House of Reps, who at least produced a fabulous investigation to clearly proove prosecutions and justice were required.

We all watched as congress and executive branch allowed the Supreme Court to be wrecked.

Of course the Republicans are shameless cheaters, liars, and grifters and they are the bad actors in these deplorable events and developments.

But why are elected Democrats, in general, in the long view, such pushovers?

There are actors where the first time I saw them in roles of significance, I ran to IMDb to check their names. Some people are simply talented.

However.

There are many, many, more I thought would go on to get great roles but didn’t. Sure, many have enviable careers that 99% of actors would kill for. But I expected more. That they would have more buzz surrounding them. Maybe that they would be more be bigger stars, or work consistently with world class or be competing with A-Listers for the highest quality shows or movies. Certainly, that they would have good roles in stuff that I like.

Harry Lloyd from Great Expectations.

Jason Dohring from Veronica Mars.

Natalie Dormer from The Tudors.

Matthew Lillard in Serial Mom.

Michael Biehn in The Terminator

Mischa Barton in Lawn Dogs.

Romola Garai from I Capture The Castle.

Shailene Woodley in The Descendants

How is this guy supposedly the picture of masculinity? He’s a disgusting slob. He’s broke, a criminal, and doesn’t pay his subcontractors, let alone his taxes.

He didn’t do a single thing for this country except line his own pockets and further his own interests.

Let’s discuss Michelangelo Antonioni’s 1966 film Blow-Up, with Vanessa Redgrave, David Hemmings, Sarah Miles, Jane Birkin, Veruschka, and scored by Herbie Hancock.

A successful mod photographer in London whose world is bounded by fashion, pop music, marijuana, and easy sex, feels his life is boring and despairing. But in the course of a single day he accidentally captures on film the commission of a murder.

In an interview with USA Today (full interview in thread linked below), Lange revealed the following:

“She shot a film version of “Long Day’s Journey,” which she hopes will be released later this year. And in early 2025, she’s excited to star in a film adaptation of Joan Didion’s “The Year of Magical Thinking.” But she gets the most joy from nature and her grandkids. And she's ready to take a well-deserved breather after “Mother Play,” which she’s found “tremendously exhausting” to perform eight times a week.”

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) launched a blistering critique of former Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel's potential bid for Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair, slamming the Democratic establishment's donor-focused approach. "There is a disease in Washington of Democratswho spend more time listening to the donor class than working people," Ocasio-Cortez wrote on X, formerly Twitter. "If you want to know the seed of the party's political crisis, that's it."

The sharp rebuke from the progressive congresswoman came after veteran Democratic strategist David Axelrod publicly pitched Emanuel, the current U.S. Ambassador to Japan, to lead the DNC when current chairman Jaime Harrison's term concludes in March.

I recently discovered the benefits to drinking one strong cup of coffee first thing in the morning, It quick starts my brain, then helps to move my bowels. I don't particularly care for the taste, but I'm willing to tolerate it for the benefits.

I want a strong but economical, reliable mix. I usually buy from Trader Joes but willing to shop elsewhere. It's my understanding that light mixes actually have the highest content of caffeine, which is what I want.

Recommendations? And feel free to correct any misinformation.

The suit alleges McMahon, her husband, the WWE and TKO Group Holdings, the league’s parent company, knowingly allowed employee Melvin Phillips Jr. to use his position as ringside announcer to sexually exploit children.

The filing alleges Phillips would recruit children to work as “Ring Boys,” helping him set up and take down wrestling rings at WWE events. However, the job was a guise for sexually exploiting the children, which Phillips would do even in front of wrestlers and executives in the locker area, the lawsuit alleges. He also would often film his sexual abuse, according to the filing.

“Phillips lured and manipulated the young boys with promises of meeting famous wrestlers and attending the highly popular wrestling shows, experiences that were otherwise unattainable for these kids,” the lawsuit alleges. “(The McMahons, WWE and TKO Holdings) allowed Phillips and others to engage in, and foster, the WWE’s rampant culture of sexual abuse.”

WASHINGTON — Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., said Tuesday that her effort to ban transgender women from using female bathrooms at the U.S. Capitol is a direct response to the election of Sarah McBride, who is set to be the first openly transgender person in Congress.

Mace introduced a resolution Monday to prohibit any lawmakers and House employees from "using single-sex facilities other than those corresponding to their biological sex." She was asked by reporters Tuesday if the move was in response to McBride.

"Yes and absolutely, and then some," Mace told reporters, adding, "I’m absolutely 100% gonna stand in the way of any man who wants to be in a women’s restroom, in our locker rooms, in our changing rooms. I will be there fighting you every step of the way."

Mace said she would like to see her resolution incorporated into the House rules package for the next Congress. She said she's also working on legislation that would ban such a dynamic on federal property and legislation that would ban it in schools funded by the federal government.

In a post on X on Monday night, McBride said, "Every day Americans go to work with people who have life journeys different than their own and engage with them respectfully, I hope members of Congress can muster that same kindness."

McBride's spokesperson declined to comment further Tuesday.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., said Mace’s legislation “doesn’t go far enough.” Greene also suggested she’d be willing to get into a physical altercation if McBride uses women’s restrooms.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said Tuesday that Republicans are trying to resolve the issue but that they will make accommodations for McBride.

"This is an unprecedented matter, so we’re going to, we’ll find a resolution that that solves the problem, but we’re working on that ... and stay tuned for how we respond," he said.

He added: "We welcome all new members with open arms who are duly elected representatives of the people. I believe it’s a command we treat all persons with dignity and respect. ... This is an issue that Congress has never had to address before. We’re going to do that in a deliberate fashion with member consensus on it, and we will accommodate the needs of every single person."

Tonight I made a 3 egg omelette, I stuffed it with feta and cooked spinach and some pumpkin seeds and a bit of thyme. Cooked it in an olive oil and butter mix to crisp it up. It was really good. Then I felt kind of saddened that many basic home cooked meals like an omelette are going to disappear. Young people don't cook meatloaf, omelette, or lasagne! These meals will die out.

Goldie Hawn celebrates her 79th birthday today. She's come a long way since her "Laugh In" Days, with a successful movie career which earned her two Oscar nominations / one win. I recently saw her movie 'Sugarland Express' on TCM, thought it was just 'meh' (but I understand why it has gotten so much attention over the years because it was Spielberg's first big theatrical film he directed after 'Duel').

Of all the Hawn movies, 'Butterflies are Free' and 'Private Benjamin' are my two favorites, followed by 'First Wives Club'. 'Foul Play', 'Death Becomes Her', 'Seems Like Old Times', 'Protocol' and 'Overboard' all seemed to have missed the mark for me. I haven't seen every one of her movies, but plan to over the next few months (I've been on a Hawn kick).

Anyone else here a fan of Hawn's ?

WASHINGTON, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley on Monday said he would resign as head of the U.S. Social Security Administration to run to head the Democratic National Committee.

O'Malley told President Joe Biden he would resign effective Nov. 29, the New York Times reported.

"We must connect our Party with the most important place in America — the kitchen table of every family’s home. Jobs, Opportunity, and Economic Security for all. Getting things done. Hope. A 50 state strategy. Now," O'Malley said in a posting on X. Advertisement · Scroll to continue

O'Malley, who mounted a short-lived presidential campaign in 2016, ran for DNC chair after Hillary Clinton's defeat to Donald Trump, but lost out to Tom Perez, who held the role from 2017 to 2021.

O'Malley is the first candidate to openly seek the DNC leadership spot as the party tries to reshape itself after the bracing 2024 presidential loss and Republicans' takeover of both chambers of Congress.

Other contenders for the DNC post include Ben Wikler, head of the Wisconsin Democratic Party; Minnesota Democratic party chief Ken Martin; close Biden aide Mitch Landrieu, also a former New Orleans mayor; and Senator Laphonza Butler of California, who was appointed to fill the seat of late Senator Dianne Feinstein in 2023 and chose not to run for a full term this year.

Current DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison, of South Carolina, is not expected to seek a second term after the decisive defeat of Vice President Kamala Harris by Republican Donald Trump this month raised questions about the future direction of the Democratic Party.

Pollster Nate Silver said President Biden should resign in a post on the social platform X on Wednesday.

“Is there any particular reason to assume Biden is competent to be president right now? It’s a very difficult job,” Silver wrote in his post. “It’s a dangerous world. Extremely high-stakes decisions in Ukraine. He should resign and let Harris serve out the last 2 months.”

Silver’s post also featured a screenshot of a report from The Washington Post, and a link to the article. The Post reporting centered on Biden’s relationship with the press as he prepares to exit the White House. Biden, according to the Post, did not spend much of his time talking publicly during his recent visit to South America.

Biden has faced questions about his age and mental fitness throughout his presidency, but they increased especially in recent months following a rough presidential debate performance against President-elect Trump.

The questions and fears about Biden’s age and mental fitness ultimately led to him being replaced at the top of the Democratic ticket by Vice President Harris. She lost to Trump about three-and-a-half months later.

Jamal Simmons, a former aide to Harris, also recently called for Biden to resign so the vice president could have take the role for a short time.

“Joe Biden’s been a phenomenal president; he’s lived up to so many of the promises he’s made. There’s one promise left that he could fulfill: being a transitional figure,” Simmons said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

“He could resign the presidency in the next 30 days, make Kamala Harris president of the United States,” he continued.

But few Democrats agree, publicly at least. Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) mocked Silver’s suggestions on Wednesday.

“Senator John Fetterman Calls on Silver to Stop with Shitty Polls and Takes Immediately,” Fetterman said Wednesday on X, in response to a headline from The Daily Beast about the post from Silver.

Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi have moved to rural England, put their Montecito estate on the market and plan to never return to the United States, telling friends the election of Donald Trump was their primary motivation, a person close to the former TV host told TheWrap.

Though the incoming Republican administration was the cited catalyst, a fresh start couldn’t hurt: DeGeneres has been open about being “kicked out of show business” after reports of toxic workplace behavior at the syndicated “Ellen” show in 2022.

Jimmy Kimmel commented on Donald Trump’s nomination of former Fox Business host Sean Duffy for secretary of transportation during his Tuesday night monologue, calling it “one of his least embarrassing picks.”

Though Duffy served as a U.S. representative for Wisconsin from 2011 to 2019, he started his career in the ’90s as a reality star, which Kimmel was quick to point out.

“Duffy served in Congress for eight years, but you know what he did before that? He was on ‘The Real World’ and ‘Road Rules’ on MTV,” Kimmel said. “[Trump] hired the guy from ‘Road Rules’ to be secretary of transportation, because of course he did — the word ‘road’ is right in there.”

Kimmel continued, “And that’s one of his least embarrassing picks. Maybe he’ll pick one of the Teen Moms to be secretary of labor!”

He cracked that Trump’s appointments are like a “season of ‘Dancing With the Stars.'” Other new nominations to Trump’s cabinet include Brendan Carr to head the FCC, Dr. Mehmet Oz as administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and former WWE executive Linda McMahon as secretary of education. To that, Kimmel asked: “What the WWF is going on here?”

Kimmel also circled back to Matt Gaetz, Trump’s selection for attorney general, who was — until his cabinet appointment — under investigation by the House Ethics Committee for allegations of sexual misconduct and illicit drug use. He has also been the subject of a federal investigation for allegedly sex trafficking a 17-year-old girl. Gaetz has denied all allegations against him.

Kimmel noted that the House Ethics Committee is set to meet on Wednesday to decide whether or not to release the report from their investigation.

“Matt Gaetz, also known as the caucasian Diddy, is in the hot seat right now,” he said, noting that “at least two women have testified before the House Ethics Committee claiming Gaetz paid them for sex.”

After playing a clip of one of the women’s lawyers alleging that Gaetz paid them using Venmo, Kimmel called him the “Venmolester” and said: “The fact that Matt Gaetz was stupid enough to pay for sex with Venmo, that alone should be disqualifying.”

I don't like completely anonymous sex (at least in RL, I don't mind the fantasy). For me, in order to enjoy casual sex, I need some form of connection to the other guy--preferably a friendship, but usually it's enough if I know a bit about him (like having talked to him for a while) and if I like him. I've always preferred fuck buddies/friends with benefits over a random hook-up via some app.

Usually, I wouldn't bother (not everything has to have its own neat little category), but I wondered if there is a term for this. After all, we're living in a time when every little sexual preference/orientation has its own strict definition (and flag)...

A prominent New York doctor is facing a federal, four-count indictment after he was accused of sexually assaulting multiple patients, including minors, for more than five years beginning in 2015.

New York authorities arrested Dr. Darius Paduch, a 55-year-old former urologist at the New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center, on Tuesday morning.

Paduch is charged with two counts of inducement of a person to travel to engage in unlawful sexual activity and two counts of inducement of a minor to engage in unlawful sexual activity "for his yearslong [sic] sexual abuse of two victims who were his patients and who were minors during part of the period of abuse," the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York announced Tuesday.

With President-elect Donald Trump's recent announcement of former surgeon-turned-TV host Dr. Mehmet Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), questions are swirling about whether changes could be coming to the government programs.

If his nomination is confirmed by the Senate, Oz would, as CMS administrator, oversee Medicare, Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program. At least 145 million Americans are enrolled under one of the three programs, according to federal data.

Oz has previously expressed support for an option that could lead to more Medicare privatization. Although Oz has not revealed his views on Medicaid, some Republicans in Congress have expressed support for changes that would slash the budget of the program.

CMS administers Medicare, the federal health insurance program for those mostly aged 65 and older. More than 66 million people in the U.S. receive coverage through Medicare, the program says.

However, Oz has expressed support for Medicare Advantage, a Medicare-approved plan run by private insurance companies. The plan must follow rules set by Medicare, such as limiting out-of-pocket expenses and covering all services covered by traditional Medicare.

"Medicare Advantage has definitely become a much more important part of the Medicare program. It's now the most popular coverage option within the program," Joe Albanese, a senior policy analyst at the right-leaning think tank Paragon Health Institute, told ABC News.

"It's grown very rapidly in popularity over the past decade," he continued. "And that's going change the way that the government interacts with Medicare and Medicare beneficiaries."

In an op-ed co-written for Forbes in June 2020, Oz said Medicare Advantage offers better care due to there being competing plans. He said Medicare Advantage could also be expanded to all Americans who are not on Medicaid, which would be funded by a 20% payroll tax. He has also promoted Medicare Advantage on his show, "The Dr. Oz Show."

Trump, too, has promoted Medicare Advantage, touting new benefits for seniors who were enrolled in the plan. What's more, Project 2025 — a plan of conservative policy proposals proposed by the Heritage Foundation — has proposed Medicare Advantage be the default option for Medicare coverage.

"I don't know what plans would be for such a proposal in Congress or in this administration," Albanese said. "I can say that some of the proponents of a default Medicare Advantage enrollment approach say that [Medicare Advantage] plans are typically able to offer comparable, if not lower costs."

However, critics argue making Medicare Advantage the default option could privatize the program and limit people's options when it comes to receiving care because many doctors and hospitals don't accept Medicare Advantage.

"To move to a default option, I think it'd be hard to get that, particularly in an administration [that] is in favor of less regulation because Medicare Advantage requires a strong partnership with regulators," Daniel Polsky, a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of health economics at Johns Hopkins University, told ABC News. "It's making a lot of requirements to ensure that the private insurance companies are using federal dollars wisely and acting in the best interests of the patients that they're responsible for."

If Medicare Advantage became the default option, Polsky said, it would increase spending, and the program would not be able to negotiate with as many providers as traditional Medicare can.

"You have to take the good with the bad with Medicare Advantage if you're going to lean into that program," he said. "There are just going to be beneficiaries that will not be served by that program because they need specialized care with specialized providers that they can't access in that program."

The cable giant on Wednesday said that it was planning to officially move forward with its proposed split, which will see MSNBC, CNBC, E!, Syfy, USA, Oxygen, Golf Channel, Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes spun out into their own company, which will be led by Mark Lazarus.

But the deal brings with it a slew of complications, and executives seem to have few answers to them as of now. What happens after the split is complete could reshape the channels, and the TV industry as a whole.

Nowhere are the questions more acute than in Comcast’s cable news channels MSNBC and CNBC. An MSNBC source described the mood at the network as “depressed,” while a CNBC source described the mood as “annoyed, but probably fine.”

It’s a dynamic that makes sense. MSNBC has benefitted enormously by its close ties to NBC News, with its own talent gaining broadcast exposure, and many NBC anchors also filling time on the cable channel. MSNBC has relied on the vast reporting capabilities of NBC News, which it has supplemented with its own more opinion-driven programming.

CNBC, meanwhile, has long operated with a high degree of autonomy. Its executive offices, newsroom, and studios are in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey (it has satellite studios at The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq), and it has only been since Cesar Conde took over the NBCUniversal News Group in 2020 that CNBC resources had begun to be integrated with the larger news operation.

Staffers there are uncertain of what is to come (don’t expect discounted theme park vacations anymore), but are more confident in their ability to execute outside of the larger NBCU enterprise. CNBC began reporting to Lazarus yesterday, getting a head start on the new structure.

Lazarus on Wednesday met with top MSNBC talent, joined by MSNBC president Rashida Jones, according to a source familiar with the company. Lazarus was upbeat, but acknowledged the complexities and uncertainties of the deal, some of which will cut very close to MSNBC’s identity.

Consider: Will the channel continue to be called MSNBC? Will it still be able to use the Peacock emblem? Will the channel cut a financial agreement with NBC News to continue using its reporting? Or will it pursue other options? They are big questions without clear answers, and at MSNBC in particular the devil will be in the details.

The new SpinCo will have plenty of entertainment, with USA, E!, Oxygen and Syfy all in the space to varying degrees. NBCU was in the process of spinning up more scripted fare on USA when the deal was announced.

But there is no question that in recent years, the bulk of NBCU's entertainment investments have gone to Peacock, the NBC broadcast network, and to a lesser extent Bravo, with the cable channels doing what they could with fewer resources.

Will the new structure allow them to make more entertainment investments? Possibly. It could also allow them to be buyers from more producers, giving them optionality. The standalone company could also presumably cut its own streaming deals, letting it license its own entertainment to other streaming platforms. But cable is just not the home of entertainment anymore, as NBCU's own actions demonstrate. Suits was a hit on USA, but it became a phenomenon on Netflix. The company's upcoming spinoff, however, will live on NBC and Peacock, leaving USA in the lurch.

A quirk in the deal: NBCU is keeping one, lone, cable channel: Bravo.

It makes sense, Bravo has forged without question the strongest brand in the company's cable portfolio, with its reality shows not only generating substantial TV viewership, but also viewership on Peacock. If any brand were to survive the shift to streaming in the company, Bravo would be it.

But the deal raises questions bout how long Bravo the cable channel will survive.

While Bravo will have the NBC network to help it retain carriage (more on that below), it will be left without its cable channel siblings in the larger portfolio (putting aside the Telemundo channels, with that business remaining intact).

They can't even have a short period of peace and harmony to savor their victory

Let's post any stories about broken promises, dashed hopes, bitter recriminations, and general #ETTD here. Ric Grenell must be feeling kind of bitter and used right about now.

[QUOTE]There’s a chill in the air over Mar-a-Lago as Trump’s courtiers remember that while Trump demands loyalty, he’s hardly loyal himself. A stark reminder of this came last night, when The New York Times reported that Trump was passing over Ric Grenell to likely select Marco Rubio for Secretary of State. Anyone who has spent time with Trump over the past eight years knows that Grenell has been at his side, soldiering on next to him even in his darkest hours of post-January 6 exile, when Rubio took to the Senate floor to denounce the chaos that had erupted that day. “Ric busted his ass this campaign,” said a senior Trump advisor. “For years, actually.”

[QUOTE]Some Grenell supporters are convinced that Trump only chose Rubio—viewed suspiciously as a Republican establishment-adjacent war hawk by the isolationist MAGA movement—so that Lara Trump could be appointed to his Senate seat in Florida. Meanwhile, I’m told Governor Ron DeSantis was not clued into whatever switcheroo the family braintrust is concocting. On the contrary, I heard he woke up to the Rubio news in Italy, a sign of the real and metaphorical distance between the two camps. It’s certainly a rift that DeSantis could endeavor to mend with a quick appointment of Lara over, say, his own chief-of-staff, James Uthmeier, who could be a place holder for DeSantis when he needs a new job in 2026.

[QUOTE]In any case, the Grenell snub is only the latest in a series of Trump choices that are sure to be controversial with one or another constituency. Some Republican allies have privately expressed concerns after Trump plucked two members of Congress, Elise Stefanik and Mike Waltz, to serve as Ambassador to the United Nations and National Security Advisor, respectively, placing additional pressure on whatever slim majority Speaker Mike Johnson will have to work with. Other MAGA members of the House didn’t bother pitching their services, believing that there was no way to get into the administration because of that margin, and are now irked to see their colleagues get the nod. There are also gripes that “establishment” staffers who have resumes connected to Elaine Chao and Bill Barr, two ex-secretaries non-grata, are involved in the transition, rather than MAGA soldiers from the campaign. It’s all of a piece with the broader resentment bubbling to the surface as the president-elect elevates old political hands with Washington cred over fringier grassroots characters who have been waiting in the wings.

[QUOTE]As for Democrats, they’re bracing themselves for a particularly bruising photo-op tomorrow, when Joe Biden does the classy thing and invites Trump to the White House to discuss the transition—an official act that Trump wouldn’t perform in 2020. Of course, the Democrats are already throwing stones at Biden, but this difficult day for him will be the only picture anyone is looking at.

Well?

While the press spends the week engaged in their favorite activity (flogging Democrats), there is quiet chatter on social media about election interference. At this point not much more than chatter, but what is clear is that the math ain't mathin' in the election results.

Several states elected Dem congresspeople, Dem governors - *and* Trump;

Most of those states are showing 200,000 - 300,000 vote discrepancies between total votes for Congress and for President. (yes states like NC are known for splitting votes, but this many states, by this many votes?)

The GOP by staggering odds won all 7 swing states;

The GOP showed vote gains in every state of the US except Washington State. Coincidentally, Washington is the only state where all votes are conducted by paper mail ballots.

Donald made several verbal slips in the last 2 weeks, talking about the fact that "I don't need your votes".

On today's podcast Joe Rogan gushed about Elon Musk having "an app where he can predict the election 2 hours before results are public".

The government made noise in December 2023 about voting machines being hacked, which was largely ignored.

I'm hearing that Elon's Starlink system was used to transmit voting data in at least one state (no confirmation at this point).

So a mountain of circumstantial evidence, which may never go beyond the internet rumor stage. I personally believe the discrepancies are getting investigating under the table right now and they're waiting for gather enough solid evidence to drop the bomb.

Occassionally one or the other will be up for a week or two, then goes down again.I used to enjoy the hell out of those facilities, but they’ve spent the past five years giving dog Ste my homework excuses to outright lies why tbe amenities are down. The latest? The “heating element” that powers everything is broken. Outright lie. There is no single heating element. I know from discussions with the various managers, the corporate office, and other staff, that the pool, hot tub sbd steam room all have their own heaters. It takes money to make money. I remember when that place was hopping with guys, that’s been gone long before tbe pandemic. They have to be losing money hand over fist and are keeping the place open do losses can offset profit from their others clubs, or they are laundering money. What day you? I figure they’ve lost about $600 a year from fees. Over 5 years, that’s $3 grand. I bet an investment of 30 or 30 grand, regular maintenance, and sone programming would bring in another $600 thousand to a million dollars a year. Of course a lot of that is operating e lenses, but still, they could be making a solid profit, but they don’t seem to be interested in profit. There’s gotta be a reason.

Senator Tim Scott and Rep. Byron Donalds were outspoken surrogates for Trump in 2024. No matter how noxious, offensive or ridiculous his ravings, they made themselves look like c00ns on television defending him. Both have been loyal. Essentially, Ukraine launched 12 British missiles into Russia that almost certainly required operational support from British military which, if true, means the UK is now directly at war with Russia.

Although I think there’s still enough wiggle room for all three sides (Russia, UK, rest of NATO) to argue either way depending on how much each of them fancies getting involved in a nuclear war.

This is his first podcast I listened the whole way through because it was actually interesting and a brief 36 minutes.

His friend would tell him he was making bad and reckless decisions and he would ignore them. He appears genuinely surprised that some of his friends’ female friends cut them off because of their association with him, like the thought had never crossed his mind. Much of the podcast is of the poor me, poor me variety, and the friend has to remind him that his actions caused immense suffering for his wife, and Hammer is like “Oh yeah that too.” He says that at the time of his troubles he had the emotional maturity of a kid, and “You can’t get mad at a kid for being their age.” (Hammer was in his mid-30s when this happened.) It just goes on and on.

Hammer admits he was purposely reckless with his online behavior because he actually hated his movie star persona and was trying to destroy it. He hated being told he had to brush his hair or put on a clean shirt when leaving the house. His friend recounts an innocuous memory from their youth which he remembers as a happy memory, and Hammer counters that the event was actually stressful for him and he needed drugs to cope with it. He is talking about Imposter Syndrome. The link between neurodivergence and Imposter Syndrome is well documented. Neurodivergent people understand they are “different” at an early age and must mask to meet expectations from others, which can lead to lifelong feelings of fraudulence.

Because this is his close friend there’s a greater degree of unmasking and the neurodivergent tics are off the charts - heavy manual stimming, the inability to sit straight, glazed expression over the eyes. Hammer is obviously not on the autism spectrum but other details of life like his self-acknowledged impulsive behavior or his struggle with school (high school dropout) point to ADHD.

It’s called sticker shock. And if you haven’t been to a dealer’s showroom since before the pandemic, you might want to prepare yourself.

Americans paid a whopping $47,612 on average for a new car in October, according to data from Edmunds. That’s a jump of almost $10,000 from October 2019, ahead of the pandemic. That means new car prices have risen much faster than most goods and services.

The price jump has multiple origin stories: The pandemic snarled supply chains and limited essential car parts. Buyers increasingly prefer larger cars with more features, continuing the decades-long shift to bigger, more expensive SUVs and trucks.

But much of the reason Americans are paying nearly $50k for a car is that automakers decided to go all-in on expensive cars. The more they charge for a car, the more money they make off it.

“You’d be hard pressed to find anything under $30,000 from an American automaker,” said Ivan Drury, director of insights at Edmunds. “They’re hacking away at models altogether, and basic trim levels, which are no longer the bulk of the business. They’re raising the floor prices.”

Today’s cars come with all manner of driver assist features, including automatic braking, adaptive cruise control and blind spot warning systems.

“People didn’t know they wanted them (these features) until they had them,” said Charlie Chesbrough, economist and senior director of industry insights at Cox Automotive. “It’s a mix of what consumers want, and what industry is moving to. The market is abandoning the below-$35,000 price point.”

There are also more electric vehicles, as well as growing demand for hybrids, both of which are more expensive than traditional gas-only cars.

The cheaper cars remaining are generally from foreign brands. The average price of a Nissan sold in the United States in the third quarter stood at $35,362, and that includes sales of its luxury Infiniti brand.

The traditional Big Three of General Motors, Ford and Stellantis, which sells under the Jeep, Ram, Dodge and Chrysler brands, have virtually abandoned the sedan market to focus almost entirely on SUVs and pickups.

Ford sells only one traditional “car” these days, the Mustang, a two-door coupe rather than a family sedan. The last non-SUV or pickup Chevrolet will roll off the line this month.

The exclusion of almost everything that isn’t a big, high-riding crossover or SUV has already raised the average sales price to $50,922 at GM, $54,963 at Stellantis and $55,632 at Ford.

While average prices are down $142 from a year ago, they could be heading higher soon.

Christina Aguilera loves her ultra skinny figure, but it’s caused a lull in her love life, according to an insider. The source exclusively tells Life & Style that her long suffering fiancé, Matthew Rutler, is tearing his hair out in frustration.

“Christina’s all about looking as sexy as she can these days. She’s constantly showing off her body and parading around in skin tight clothes,” the insider reveals. “Most people probably assume she’s got a hot sex life to go with her hot body, but it’s actually the total opposite.”

The source continues, “Apparently, she and Matt used to have a way better sex life, but these days it’s DOA because she’s just never in the mood. It’s not something that’s ever been an issue in their relationship before so of course Matt is blaming her drastic weight loss. Plus, although Christina denies taking Ozempic or any of the other weight loss drugs, decreased libido is one of the possible side effects so it’s not hard to put two and two together.”

However, according to the insider, the “Genie in a Bottle” hit maker, 43, “doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem.”

“She’s so caught up in looking good and all the stuff going on with her career, but it’s certainly doing a number on Matt. He feels like their connection’s just not the same as it used to be. He’s been complaining to friends and saying he wishes she’d gain some weight and start acting like herself again,” the source concludes.

The news of Matt’s concerns about their love life comes on the heels of fans worrying that Christina might be taking her weight loss too far.

“Christina has been losing weight for the past year and is feeling more confident than she has in ages,” a separate insider told Life & Style on Thursday, October 10. “Still, people are starting to wonder if perhaps she’s taking it too far. She looks smaller than she did in her teen years. It’s really shocking to see in-person.”

The “I Turn to You” singer has never addressed whether or not she’s used weight loss medication to shed some pounds, but the source said she feels “pressure to compete with the younger pop stars.”

However, when Christina sat down for an interview with Glamour in August, she explained that she didn’t want her children to obsess over their weight due to society’s often unrealistic standards similar to how she felt as a teen.

“Your kids trigger things in you that you don’t want them to go through, and it’s almost like you’re reliving this whole thing again,” the “Lady Marmalade” songstress told the outlet on August 15. “When you’re a teenager, you have a very different body than when you’re in your 20s. I started to fill out, and then that was unacceptable because it was like, ‘Oh, she’s getting thicker.’ Then I had industry people: ‘They liked your body and how you were as a skinny teenager.’”

As for the rumors about how she lost weight? Christina said she was past the point of worrying about what people whispered about.

“I have a maturity now where I just don’t give a f—k about your opinion,” the Burlesque star said. “I’m not going to take it on. It must be your responsibility to take up your space. Other people’s opinions of me are not my business.”

This was 10 years ago. Anyone know what happened to him? Mental illness, I’m guessing.

Bryan Travis Smith was friends with Julia Roberts, used to live with Drew Barrymore — and he was married to “Charmed” and “Pretty Little Liars” actress Holly Marie Combs — but now he’s homeless on the streets of New York.

Smith, 47, who had parts in “Bugsy” and “Boxing Helena,” recently wrote on Instagram: “I’m a goldfish banging my head on the glass until someone notices. I’m homeless, that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop eating Eggs Benedict.”

Richard Dupont, the Andy Warhol protégé, was close to Smith in the early ’90s.

“It’s so sad. Everyone was always trying to help him. But he couldn’t cope with his demons,” Dupont told me. “Annette Bening tried to help him.”

Smith was hired in 1992 by director Peter Bogdanovich to star in “The Thing Called Love” with Dermot Mulroney and Sandra Bullock, but he missed a table reading.

“It would have been his big break. Instead, River Phoenix got the job,” Dupont said.

Until eight months ago, Smith was tweeting as @homelessbryan, but then he stopped.

Combs, who divorced Smith in 1997, lives in Burbank with three sons from her second marriage.

An American man is the third person suspected to have died after a mass drink poisoning in Laos that killed young Danish women and left two Australian teens fighting for their lives.

The US State Department on Thursday confirmed the death of one of its citizens in Vang Vieng, a tourist town where at least 10 people became seriously ill last week from drinking spirits believed to be laced with methanol, a cheap and deadly form of alcohol mostly found in crude or criminal brews.

Melbourne friends Bianca Jones and Holly Bowles had been backpacking there alongside travellers from all over the world until a night out on November 11 and 12. They had been drinking at the bar of their accommodation, Nana Backpacker Hostel, but their movements in Vang Vieng after this were unclear.

The State Department said it was “closely monitoring” the situation. The spokesperson declined to provide specific dates or details about the American victim but said that he died while still in Vang Vieng. Most, if not all, the other victims were moved to bigger hospitals in the capital, Vientiane, or in neighbouring Thailand.

It was up to local authorities to determine the cause of death, the US said. While this has not yet happened, or at least not publicly announced, Laotian authorities are believed to be investigating it as a poisoning.

Denmark’s Foreign Ministry had earlier confirmed two of its citizens, aged 19 or 20, had died.

This masthead has also been told the case had reached the highest levels of the Laos government and that senior figures had ordered further work.

Accordingly, police appeared to be escalating what had been a lacklustre and low-profile investigation.

More than a week after people became sick, a group of officials, including a police chief, went to the hostel on Wednesday and confiscated bottles for testing in Vientiane.

It was unknown whether investigators from the other visit, which happened shortly after victims emerged, had taken samples. In any case, the bar at Nana continued to serve guests despite its links to at least some of the victims.

The manager of the hostel, Duong Duc Toan, said this week that he served the Australian 19-year-olds free shots of local vodka but denied this was what made them sick.

He said other guests notified staff that the Melbourne teens were unwell. They failed to check out as planned on November 13, and he said the hostel then arranged hospital transport for them. Both were flown to Thailand in critical condition.

Toan said the Australian women had joined more than 100 other guests for free shots of Laotian vodka offered by the hostel as a gesture of hospitality.

The hostel said the women started drinking at the bar at 8pm and left about 10.30pm, going elsewhere for the rest of the night and returning in the early hours of the morning. He said no other guests reported any issue.

When this masthead visited the hostel on Tuesday afternoon, Toan produced a bottle of Tiger Vodka he said he served the women, pouring himself a drink and finishing it.

The bottle said the vodka was 40 per cent alcohol and distilled in the southern part of Vientiane. He said he hoped the police investigation would clear his name.

I was reading there’s a new trend amongst women to get an abortion once a year (more often is debilitating) to take advantage of the female hormone rush that happens during the first trimester.

Supposedly this sudden influx of hormones gives a dramatic boost to hair, skin, and nail growth, making them extra healthy, soft and glossy.

While I support every woman’s right to choose, I’m concerned about this trend because the entire pregnancy is only engineered (then yanked out) for cosmetic purposes. What are your thoughts?

A new rumor doing the rounds online is claiming that Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Deadpool and Wolverine is in talks for a role in Simon Kinberg's Star Wars trilogy...

Could our previous big-screen Superman take flight in the galaxy far, far away?

Last week, the news broke that Lucasfilm is developing a new Star Wars trilogy, with Simon Kinberg (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) tapped to write and produce all three films, and a new rumor claims that none other than Henry Cavill has met with Lucasfilm about a potential role.

Cavill has appeared in a number of major comic book, sci-fi and fantasy franchises over the years, playing the Man of Steel in the DCEU, Geralt of Rivia in Netflix's The Witcher, and a Wolverine variant in this year's Deadpool and Wolverine. He also has the lead role in the Highlander reboot on the way, and there are rumors that he might be in line to play another character in the MCU.

The actor has spoken about his love for the Star Wars franchise in the past, and scooper MTTSH is now claiming that he has had discussions with the studio about possibly taking a role in the new trilogy.

Here's what Cavill had to say about his appreciation of Star Wars several years ago.

"I am a fan of them. I would have to read a script and speak to a director before I could possibly say if I’d be interested in being a movie it’s not as simple as you know. Yes, it’d be fun and ideal but what if the script sucks…you’ve got to keep your fingers crossed that it works."

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - A former youth pastor is now facing nearly 100 sex charges against children in four North Central West Virginia counties.

John Radcliff, II, of Nicholas County, has been charged in Lewis, Harrison, Braxton and Nicholas counties for the sexual abuse of children that occurred between 1987 and 2003, according to West Virginia State Police.

Radcliff was originally arrested in Nicholas County in September for incidents that occurred in 2018 and 2019, which led to many victims being interviewed and a multi-county investigation.

According to court documents from Lewis County, Radcliff began abusing two young girls when they were just 3 and 4 years old — both of whom are Radcliff’s nieces. Both girls, who are now adults, told police about numerous incidents that occurred in Lewis County, in which Radcliff made them perform sexual acts on him and sexually assaulted them in other ways throughout their childhoods.

One of the victims told police about a time Radcliff, along with his wife, Kathy Radcliff, made her and her cousin, who was around the same age as her, come into their bedroom and watch a pornographic movie with them while the couple performed sexual acts on one another. The girl said she ran out of the room to hide, and Kathy later came to find her to ask her if she was okay.

Kathy has also been charged in relation to the above-mentioned incident in Lewis County with displaying obscene matter to a minor and accessory, as the victim told police Kathy was aware of everything that was happening at all times.

Both John and Kathy are currently in the Central Regional Jail. In total, John’s bond is over $1.7 million in Lewis, Harrison and Braxton counties, while Kathy’s is set at $75,000 in Lewis.

Anyone that is or was a victim of these individuals or has information relating to this investigation is asking to contact TFC. R.C. Watson at the Weston Detachment of the West Virginia State Police at 304-269-0500 or 304-637-0200.

Radcliff is facing 98 total charges throughout the four counties, 77 of which were filed on Monday. He is facing the following charges in the following counties:

Lewis County

Radcliff was charged with seven counts of first-degree sexual abuse, five counts of first-degree sexual assault, 12 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian, five counts of incest and one count of displaying obscene matter to a minor for incidents that occurred between 1987 and 2003. Bond is set at $1,000,000.

Braxton County

Radcliff was charged with 15 counts of first-degree sexual assault, 15 counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian and 15 counts of incest for incidents that occurred between 1995 and 2000. Bond is set at $250,000.

Harrison County

Radcliff was charged with one count of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian, one count of first-degree sexual assault and one count of incest for incidents that occurred in 2002. Bond is set at $450,000.

Nicholas County

Radcliff was charged with five counts of second-degree sexual assault, eight counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian, and eight counts of incest for incidents that occurred in 2018 and 2019.

I’ve always eaten fast because I’ve always enjoyed the perfect bite whether hot or cold. Why would I want to take 45 minutes eating a hot dish to suffer through eating something that isn’t even lukewarm anymore.

On the other hand, why would I want to eat ice cream that’s been melting for 30 minutes? Let me enjoy it when it’s still frozen.

My parents would always tell me to slow down while they took over an hour to eat one medium sized plate of food. My god, I’m surprised they didn’t get botulism by the time they finally got around to finishing their plate.

Yeah, I know, I type fat.

A storm that will bring strong winds to Washington state has been intensifying quickly off the Pacific coast. According to Maddie Kristell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Seattle, the storm will reach levels that are rarely seen in the region at this time of year.

“We do have an anomalously strong low pressure system offshore. It has deepened its intensity, dropped pressure pretty significantly in the core of it,” Kristell said in a phone call with McClatchy.

In an interview with KIRO Newsradio, University of Washington atmospheric sciences professor Cliff Mass said that the system is approaching the strength of a hurricane. However, Kristell said that NWS’s forecasts suggest Washington will likely be spared the storm’s worst effects.

“It does remain offshore. The track does seem to take it closer to northwestern Vancouver Island, so we’re not looking at a direct impact of the lowest pressure on our shores,” Kristell said.

But that doesn’t mean Washington will be completely in the clear. According to Kristell, gusts of wind will approach 65 miles an hour in parts of the state.

“Certainly through the Strait of Juan de Fuca and along the coast, that’s where we’re going to see our strongest winds, where sustained winds could be between 30 and 35 miles per hour, with gusts between 60 and 65 miles an hour,” Kristell said. “The lowlands and up through the Bellingham area will probably see gusts more in the 35, 40 miles an hour range.”

The storm is expected to hit Washington the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 19, around 4 or 5 p.m., and will last until the following morning, according to Kristell.

Several reports have referred to the storm as a bomb cyclone. The term refers to a storm that intensifies incredibly quickly. For a pressure system to be considered a bomb cyclone, it needs to drop 24 millibars within a 24-hour period.

According to Kristell, it’s unclear whether the storm approaching Washington meets that definition.

“We haven’t been following the exact amount that it’s dropped,” Kristell said. “It definitely could have, because it’s a lower area of pressure than we typically see.

Additionally, Kristell said that at lower latitudes, a lower drop in pressure can still effectively amount to a bomb cyclone.

“That definition of the 24 millibar drop in 24 hours is a rule of thumb that’s normalized to 60 degrees north in latitude,” Kristell said. “We’re not sitting up there, we do have to take that definition with a little bit of a grain of salt for where we’re sitting at in the latitude.”

NWS has already issued both wind and flood advisories for the areas that will be affected by the storm. According to Kristell, while the storm will bring some rain, water levels aren’t as much of a concern. The coast could see flooding, but wind will likely be the primary effect of the storm on the Puget Sound region.

“Wind will be our primary concern on this one,” Kristell said. “There will still be some rain with it, but the focus of the rain is actually more to our south.”

Hardly worth posting you say since sexual assault is practically rite of passage for the modern GOP, right? He plied a woman with alcohol and raped her while she was passed out. OK, unsurprising. Well... It was his 21 year old DAUGHTER!!! He pleaded guilty after the election, he never took his name off the ballot despite having been arrested in June.

Bizarre story. It's a custom for him to take his kids to Vegas when they turn 21 (weird right?). She was the youngest. He didn't want her boyfriend to come along, but the grandma and step grandpa were on the trip and in the adjacent room as her son was raping her granddaughter. She suspects he may have planned it.

Poor woman. Talk about the ultimate betrayal.

I’ve been to Vegas a few times and usually have the same experience. I’m doing some light gambling, I’m eating a ton of great food and hanging by the pool and going to shows, just having a blast. And then it happens: for a moment I am paralyzed by the realization that this city encapsulates everything that is wrong with American society and hyper-concentrates it a hundredfold into the space of a few blocks, wave upon wave of horror crash upon me as I gaze into the angry flashing lights imposing themselves upon me, I feel so small and helpless against this force and while I thought I was the consumer, the whole time the city was actually consuming ME.

And then the moment passes and I get a sundae.

The girlfriend of Jose Ibarra, who is accused of brutally murdering College Student Laken Riley, told the court the pair were staying at hotel in NYC (paid for by the government). They then requested a flight to Atlanta where his brothers lived, which the government paid for.

Why is the US government providing free flights to the desitnation of their choice to illegal aliens? Who then hop off the plane and almost immediately stalk and murder college students?

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump has said he wouldn’t be a dictator — “except for Day 1." According to his own statements, he's got a lot to do on that first day in the White House.

Here's a look at what Trump has said he will do in his second term and whether he can do it the moment he steps into the White House:

Make most of his criminal cases go away, at least the federal ones

Trump has said that “within two seconds" of taking office that he would fire Jack Smith, the special counsel who has been prosecuting two federal cases against him. Smith is already evaluating how to wind down the cases because of long-standing Justice Department policy that says sitting presidents cannot be prosecuted.

Smith charged Trump last year with plotting to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and illegally hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

Trump cannot pardon himself when it comes to his state conviction in New York in a hush money case, but he could seek to leverage his status as president-elect in an effort to set aside or expunge his felony conviction and stave off a potential prison sentence.

A case in Georgia, where Trump was charged with election interference, will likely be the only criminal case left standing. It would probably be put on hold until at least 2029, at the end of his presidential term. The Georgia prosecutor on the case just won reelection.

Pardon supporters who attacked the Capitol

More than 1,500 people have been charged since a mob of Trump supporters spun up by the outgoing president attacked the Capitol almost nearly four years ago.

He called the rioters “unbelievable patriots” and promised to help them “the first day we get into office.”

As president, Trump can pardon anyone convicted in federal court, District of Columbia Superior Court or in a military court-martial. He can stop the continued prosecution of rioters by telling his attorney general to stand down.

“I am inclined to pardon many of them," Trump said on his social media platform in March when announcing the promise. “I can’t say for every single one, because a couple of them, probably they got out of control.”

Dismantle the ‘deep state’ of government workers

Trump could begin the process of stripping tens of thousands of career employees of their civil service protections, so they could be more easily fired.

He wants to do two things: drastically reduce the federal workforce, which he has long said is an unnecessary drain, and to “totally obliterate the deep state” — perceived enemies who, he believes, are hiding in government jobs.

Beyond the firings, Trump wants to crack down on government officials who leak to reporters. He also wants to require that federal employees pass a new civil service test.

Jim Wright, a retired US Navy Chief Warrant Officer and freelance writer, wrote a post about RFK and his anti-vax campaign on Facebook that might be of interest here.

"Trump has nominated Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a conspiracy nut and rabid anti-vaxxer, to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.

RFK Jr has a long, long history of insane, counterfactual, completely wrong, and at best misleading claims regarding vaccines. I don't think he's ever said a single word about vaccines that was correct. There isn't an unhinged vaccine conspiracy theory Kennedy doesn't love and believe whole hog. He's lost literally hundreds of lawsuits over vaccines.

But NOW he's going be in charge of vaccination for the entire country. We're literally going to put the biggest nut in the booby hatch in charge, and we're going to lock up all the doctors.

Guess Liberals should have shown up, eh? Then again, anti-vax conspiracy theories have long been a popular bugaboo on the far left, which is where Kennedy himself came from, so maybe the Left is getting exactly what it wanted after all.

Be that as it may, or may not be, Kennedy has said the government won't out and out outlaw vaccines, but will just make it so they aren't mandated.

Vaccines won't be mandatory and no one from schools to employers to the military will be able to make them so. (You probably don't want to spend too much time imagining the massive vulnerability any unvaccinated military will face in a battlespace where disposable $100 drones can easily spray biological agents over wide areas...)'

Anyway, you'll still be able to get your family vaccinated. But your insurance won't cover it.

Yeah, if vaccines aren't mandatory, AND the government agency tasked with certifying their effectiveness is run by a bunch of drooling lunatics who think Froot Loops make kids gay or something, well, then there isn't any way in hell that your insurance company is going to pay for them. Especially when they repeal the ACA slash Obamacare.

In practical terms what this means is that ONLY the rich will be fully vaccinated. And the poor will be ravaged by disease.

Oh, and it's not just going to be measles, mumps, polio, whooping cough, flu, COVID, etc. No no. It'll be the classics like cholera and typhus too, because Trump, RFK, and the new Department of Government Efficiency run by Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, are ALSO going to get rid of health inspectors, you know, the people who make sure your food isn't contaminated by rat flees or your drinking water doesn't have human shit in it.

When Trump said make America like the 1700s again, Buddy, he wasn't kidding"

A bride is cutting off her friends who didn’t bother to show up to her wedding without so much as an apology.

On November 6, Kalina Marie went viral on TikTok for exposing the vacant reception hall she and her husband walked into on their wedding day. “POV: you planned the most beautiful entrance. Just to open the doors to an empty venue,” she wrote over her video, which has now amassed over 8.6 million views.

Marie had been planning her big day for 10 months, sending out more than 75 invitations to their closest friends and family so they could join them on the joyous occasion. But on the day of their wedding, the happy couple was met with the disappointing reality of only five guests waiting to greet them inside the decorated reception room.

“FIVE PEOPLE SHOWED UP!!!!!!! Like, are you kidding me,” Marie exclaimed. “As you see in the video, we enter the venue. And no one is there. The invite said 1pm. My mom messaged me at 1:15 that no one was there. My husband and I finally showed up at 2 o’clock, to 5 people. In a venue planned for 40.”

The couple, who have been together for nine years, had been engaged for four years, but their wedding was delayed due to the pandemic.

In her caption, she said: “It just makes me think, like, why? What did we do? Am I that bad of a person? What did my husband ever do to deserve any of this? Why couldn’t we matter enough for people to show up?”

“I still have ‘friends’ that haven’t even messaged me to congratulate me or tell me why they didn’t come,” she continued. “It truly makes me sick. I honestly can’t wrap my head around this yet.”

In a follow-up video, Marie admitted her viral post has brought her an abundant amount of new supporters online. However, she and her husband are still finding it difficult to come to terms with the actions of their friends.

She said: “I am completely overwhelmed. Between feeling the love and support from TikTok, but also having to deal with the grief of deleting a lot of people out of our lives. It has been a whirlwind of emotions.

“For the most part, we’ve done a lot of re-evaluating our lives and just spending a lot of time appreciating what we have and what we had.”

Marie didn’t say whether she had contacted the no-show guests to hear their excuses, but she did confess that a lot of her husband’s family were the ones who didn’t come or send a card in their absence.

Amid the devastation, the newlyweds still managed to have fun at their reception, dancing with Marie’s son, her mom, and her cousin with festive masks on like she’d intended.
